Version 0.1: Balance Changes and Bug Fixes!
Five Nights at Aqualand » Devlog
Devlog #1
This update was focused primarily on balance changes, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements. Please see the changes made to the game below.
Updates:
- Reworked the Trio! Instead of disabling the entire security system, they will now disable one random camera which will remain broken until fixed by the player. The rate at which the camera "is fixed" will now move at a consistent rate.
- Decreased the general difficulty level. Playtesting determined that that game was too difficult resulting in this change. Animatronics should move less often and certain animatronics will only move after a particular time of night has passed.
- Fixed an issue where Aronnax would activate in Room 6 but appear to be in Room 5 (and vice versa). He should now appear in the proper room when he is active.
- Added a timer near the audio cue to indicate when it can be used next.
- Fixed an issue with Crusher's audio cue being available to press 4 seconds earlier than intended. It will now take the full cooldown to reset as intended.
- Fixed an issue where pressing Tab while in the cameras caused the player to cycle through the various camera buttons. In order to switch cameras, you must manually switch by clicking on the corresponding button.
- Re-recorded the Night 2 phone call to coincide with the changes made to the Trio.
Items On Radar:
- Investigating a solution to camera snapping that occurs after a walking animation finishes. This is intended to keep players from being able to run from room to room instantly/too quickly. I am working on a solution that prevents the above but also is less forceful on snapping.
- Investigating a bug that occurs sometimes when players attempt to complete an objective where pressing E does nothing.
- Investigating a bug that occurs when players will sometimes unhide rather than hiding when pressing Left Control.
- Finalizing concepts for game art/3D models.
I hope to address the items on the radar in the next update as well as provide more that is not listed. In the meantime, enjoy this newest update! See you in the next devlog!
