Version 0.6: Weddell, Quality of Life, and UI (oh my)!


Hello there Aqualand enthusiasts! Seems like just yesterday our first "animatronic ambassador" was introduced to the game- and yet I already have more updates to our favorite penguin Weddell! It's not much but it is worthy of an update of its own!

Updates:

  • Weddell has been fitted with animations to accompany his voicelines.
  • Weddell's position in each room has changed.
  • Weddell's model is now larger and a bit more imposing.
  • Tweaked the AI of Weddell and Crusher to make them less aggressive on the earlier nights (specifically Night 2).
  • Improved Aronnax's light so that you can tell when he leaves rather than relying purely on sound.
  • Increased the amount of time you have to hide from Aronnax before you die (from 3 seconds to 6).
  • Camera 1's position has changed slightly and Camera 2's FOV has been reduced.
  • Modified the camera interface to display static when an animatronic moves so they no longer simply...disappear. Note that this static only appears if you are looking into a room that has an animatronic in it that can move.
  • Prototype warning removed on menu screen. I also updated the version number because I forgot to do so these past couple of times.

Now the question is: when will this project move into the early access phase? The answer is that it won't be long! It is likely the game will move into early access when all of the animatronics are present in the game in some capacity. There are some other things I also want to have done by then (a better menu, jumpscares, and a final cutscene...also possibly a sixth night?) but I may hold off on some of the more 'extra' tidbits until we are in the next phase of development.
